Can we be a river
I want to connect however deep the depth of our lake.
Maybe we can’t dig it any deeper than it is.
Maybe it can grow deeper over time.
Lakes don’t usually get deeper though I think.
Except when it rains.
Usually sediment builds over time as things grow and die and layers build on the lake floor.
Can we be a river instead.
Cutting deeper into the earth as the years pass.
Sometimes flowing fast over rapids and sometimes meandering slowly through flats.
Can we be a river winding through landscapes from steep mountain headwaters,
to the slow rolling foothills,
through the gentle plains,
to the imminent ocean.~M.M.
